Niagara Falls is considered to be one of the most spectacular places to visit in Canada. It is actually made up two major water falls: Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side and the American Falls on the American side. The water falls are 173 feet and 70-100 feet tall respectively. Such a dramatic scene has been the backdrop in movies, television shows, proposals, weddings, travel, and anniversary parties. It’s also one of the most popular Honeymoon spots in the world. As a result, Niagara Falls is full of beautiful hotels, restaurants, and tourist sites such as photo opportunities and even a few recreational activities like hiking and spelunking. There is plenty to do at the Niagara Falls, whether you want to spend some quiet time strolling the falls or do something wild like hit up the Cave of the Winds or heck, get married all of a sudden! There are some pretty elegant and lovely little chapels dotted all along the falls, making for picture perfect backdrops to your special day. So if your travel need is to see crashing water and panaramic views, Niagara falls has you covered.
Niagara Falls for a Day
These trip tips for Niagara Falls are ideal if you need a bit of help on what to do. It doesn't really what time of year you come; Niagara Falls weather is generally moderate and there is always something to do. But plan your travel through Niagara Falls well or you'll get distracted! (Or enjoy the distraction... you know, whatever you love to do!)
Cave of the Winds
Start your day with the Cave of the Winds, a raincoated tour that takes you along the catwalk right up to the huge falls. Although the name is misleading (the actual cave crashed in about eighty years ago), you may still feel as though you’re in a roaring cave of water and wind as you stroll right up against the waterfall. Amazing!
Eat Up!
There are heaps of restaurants around and near the Niagara Falls. Fine Dining (the Rainforest), casual dining (Flying Saucer), and Buffets/cafes (Country Chalet) are just three of dozens and dozens of restaurants. Romance, kid friendly, family fun, warm and cozy or loud and busy, you can find the best places to eat while the Niagara Falls sing outside.
Recreation in Niagara Falls
Hiking near the falls? Check
Spelunking? Check!
….mini golf with dinosaurs? CHECK!

There are some beautiful places to visit while you’re in Niagara falls. If you love hiking, check out the Niagara River Recreation Trail to start and the Bruce Trail is the other major one which can take you around the falls. If you want to go spelunking, check out the Tailrace Tunnel, a bricked tunnel dating back 105 years behind the Horseshoe Falls! Amazing!
And if you have kids in tow (particularly dino-lovers), check out the Dinosaur Adventure Golf course which is an 18 hole mini golf course featuring huge dinosaurs. Your kids will love it!

Other awesome sights? The Niagara Skywheel where you can rise 175 feet above the falls and features temperature controlled carts so you can view the falls year round. Marineland, where you can see some of the best marine animals in the world, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum. Something for everyone indeed!
If absolutely nothing else, check out the Maid of the Mist which sails right up to the Niagara Falls.
Sleeping at Niagara Falls
Want to sleep with the roar of Niagara Falls in your ears? Check into any number of hotels and B&Bs around the waters. For high end luxury, check out The Giacomo. More common names such as the Hilton, Four Points on Sheraton and the Holiday Inn can also be found here, among dozens of other resting spots. So after a day of fun, crash land in a comfortable bed.
So, wow! And these things are just the beginning. You can golf, hike, walk, go fishing, shopping, eat fine food, sleep in a great bed and take the kids for a memorable trip, all in one place. There is so much to more Niagara Falls than the massive water falls which made them famous in the first place.
Have a blast! Of water that is. ;)
